Seattle MAC - Cross-Country Ski Day Trip - Erling Stordahl

[Beginner and intermediate] This ski trip will be for a group of skiers with similar ability levels to learn and have fun together. There are no prerequisites and anyone is welcome to register.

  • N2 Nordic Advanced Basic Ski
  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)
  • Mileage: 4.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 100 ft

8am at Crystal Springs Sno Park (Exit 62 on I-90). Note a sno-park pass with grooming sticker is required for parking.

REGISTRATION/SIGNUP INFO:

Beginners are students who have never cross country skied before, or have very little experience. Trips will be focused on teaching the basic fundamentals.

Please check with the trip leader if you are unsure which trip to register for.

SKIS:

The Mountaineers has a fleet of XC skis that students may borrow from. Limited availability. First come, first served.

When registering for a ski trip, please respond to the leader with the following.

Do you have your own XC skis? If yes, which type?

If no, what is your shoe size & height?

TERRAIN TYPE:

Note: These are the options. Within two weeks of the trip, the type of trip will be indicated here.

Groomed Trails: This is a trip that will go on groomed ski trails which will accommodate both classic and skate style. 

Non-Groomed Trails: This is a trip that will go on ungroomed trails or forest roads which will not accommodate skate skis. Classic skis are required, preferably with metal edges. 

Using leader's permission, answer all the questions and let us know if you have a preference on the type of terrain.

  • Winter layers for cross country skiing. Aerobic activity so you don’t need super heavy layers.
    • Warm, sweat wicking base layer
    • Lightweight, insulative midlayer
    • wind/waterproof outer shell
    • Accessories: Buff/scarf/gloves/beanie/goggles or sunglasses 
  • Cross-country skis (skate or classic) / poles / boots
  • Water/food/snacks
  • Small day pack
  • 10 essentials (including sun protection, headlamp, first aid)
  • Comfy change of clothes for the car ride
