Join us in the beautiful Methow Valley for a weekend of skiing and staying at the North Cascades Mountain Hostel. THERE IS A COST ASSOCIATED WITH THIS TRIP.

Gear to bring:

You will have space in the car and hostel for two medium-sized back or one large duffel. Plan accordingly!

There is a washer and dryer there, so if any of your clothes get wet, we can take care of it. No need to bring more than one outfit for the hostel and one outfit for skiing!


○      Shirts

○      Long underwear

○      Fleece jacket or puffy (down coat)

○      Waterproof jacket with hood

○      Warm hat

○      Gloves – waterproof and thin fleece ones (plus an extra pair)

○      Warm socks(wool or fleece) –two pairs – one for day and one for sleeping

○      Liner socks

○      Waterproof hiking boots or Snow Boots

○      Underwear

○      Rain Pants

○      Casual Clothes for at the hostel (one outfit)

  • Pajamas

○      Nekkie/Balaclava/scarf

Technical equipment

○      XC Skis & poles (Classic or skate) – we will rent in Winthrop. Do not rent them in Seattle since we don’t have room in cars (though definitely bring them if you own them!)

■      If you have never xc skied before, you should rent classic skis.


○      Lunch for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday

○      Snacks to eat while skiing

○      Water Bottles


○      Ten essentials

○      Small pack to wear while skiing

  • Toiletries – don’t expect to shower this weekend – there’s not enough hot water for everyone!

○      Money for dinner on the way back

○      Sunglasses

○      Lip balm

○      Hand warmers

○      Pillow (optional - the beds at the hostel will have pillows and sheets)

○      Deck of cards, small board games, book, etc… (optional, but definitely bring some games and activities for the group on Friday and Saturday night!)

  • Slippers – indoor floor may be wet
  • Crazy-creek chairs (small chairs – there will not be enough room for camp chairs in the cars)


Group Gear: Coolers! If you’re willing to lend MAC a cooler for the weekend, please let Krishna or Lynnea know!
