Seattle Junior MAC Snow Cave Building - Paradise (Mount Rainier)

[ORCA POD] Phase 2 trip for Jr. MAC. Join for a day of playing in the snow and building snow caves.

Meet at the Paradise at Mt. Rainier Thursday morning.
Return Thursday evening.

*IF YOU PLAN ON GOING ON THE FEB 13-14 SNOW CAVE OVERNIGHT, YOU MUST ATTEND THIS DAY TRIP.

We will spend the day learning to build snow caves in preparation for our snow cave overnight in February.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

*Snow shoes can be borrowed from the Mountaineers. Let Katy know by Jan 7 how many pairs of snowshoes you need.

  • Snowshoes*
  • Snowshoe Poles*
  • Boots (insulated and waterproof) 
  • Gaiters (optional but recommended) 
  • Warm clothing and extra synthetic layers
  • Long underwear top and bottom (synthetic) 
  • Wool or synthetic socks (multiple pairs!!) 
  • Liner socks (optional but recommended) 
  • Fleece or wool sweater
  • Waterproof shell (jacket with hood and pants) 
  • Waterproof gloves **especially important when digging in the snow all day!** 
  • Liner gloves
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Stocking hat (wool or synthetic) 
  • Water (at least 2L) 
  • Lunch
  • Daypack
  • Van shoes
  • Change of clothes for the car (we’ll be digging and rolling around in the snow! Prepare to get soggy!)  
  • Camera (optional) 
  • First Aid Kit
