Seattle Junior MAC Hike

Youth activity: Junior MAC

Seattle Junior MAC Hike - Pratt Lake

Join us for a strenuous hike to Pratt Lake! This is not for the weary-hearted Junior MACer. Expect to be on the trail for 6-7 hours. We'll be hiking 11 miles with 2,300 feet of elevation gain, but the lake is gorgeous, swimmable, and 100% worth the effort.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 11.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,200 ft

Jr MACers and chaperones will meet at the trailhead at 8:30am.

Driving directions: From Seattle, head east on I-90 to exit 47. Turn left and drive over the freeway, then turn left at the T. Proceed to the nearby Pratt Lake-Granite Mountain parking area. Be aware that this parking area gets very full and with people parking on both sides of the road, sometimes leaving is harder than finding a spot. Northwest Forest Pass and Alpine Lakes Wilderness Permit required; both available at the trailhead.

Parking Pass: NW Forest pass required.

Brief description: Less than an hour from Seattle, the Pratt Lake Trail takes hikers to the shores of the Pratt lake Basin, surrounded by alpine peaks, forests and talus slopes. The long distance (11 miles) and elevation gain (3,200') makes this a challenging yet rewarding hike for the hearty Jr. MAC kids (and the chaperones)!

Trip Sheet: Posted here within two weeks of the hike.

Guests: If spots are still available one week prior to the trip, email Stephanie Gilbert to request that a friend or sibling be able to join.
