Seattle Explorers Parents Only Anchor Cleaning Workshop - Mountaineers Seattle Program Center

[EXPLORER PARENTS] A chance for Explorers PARENTS to come in to the Mountaineers to practice cleaning & lowering/rappelling.

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

North Plaza | 6-8:30pm

2021 Parent Workshop Dates:

  • April 8, 6-8:30pm
  • May 13, 6-8:30pm
  • June 24, 4:30-8:30pm (likely youth can join at this one)

We require that you attend every workshop since they build on each other. If you are not able to make it to one, please reach out to Katy as soon as practical so we can see if we can schedule a make up session. 

Always be prepared to be outside no matter the weather nor temperature. By June 24 you should be competent and capable of setting up top ropes at a crag as well as cleaning and taking down the ropes.

Explorer youth are welcome to join the Jr. MAC skills workshops, but make sure to email Katy so they can be added to the roster. Here are the Jr. MAC skills workshop dates:

  • April 9, 3:30-6pm
  • May 13, 3:30-6pm
  • June 11, 3:30-6pm

  • Belay device
  • Anchor building material
  • Prussik/Autoblock
  • Climbing shoes
  • Clothing to be outside no matter the weather

The Mountaineers can provide all of the climbing gear, but bring your own if you have it.
