Seattle Explorers Camping & Climbing Trip - Mount Erie

Join us for a weekend of climbing and hiking around Mt. Erie!

FRIDAY MAY 6

  • 3–8PM: Arrive at camp; meet as pod to make sure everyone is on the same page for Saturday's plans

SUNDAY MAY 8

  • 4PM: Return to cars (can return earlier); debrief; drive home

  • Weather: Wunderground | Windy | NOAA
  • Parking: Discover Pass required at Deception Pass State Park (camping)
  • Guests: If spots are still available one week prior to the trip, email Tom (tomk@mountaineers.org) to request that a friend or sibling be able to join.

CLIMBING GEAR CHECKOUT:

  • Apr. 27 7-8pm (during monthly meeting)
  • May 4 10-6pm
  • May 5 8-4pm

CLIMBING GEAR RETURN:

  • May 11 7-8pm (during monthly meeting)
  • May 12 8-4pm

CLOTHES: PACK FOR WARM CONDITIONS DURING THE DAY

  • Clothes for adventuring during the day (layers)
    • Clothes for at camp in the evening (slightly warmer because it’ll cool down in the evening)
  • Sun Protection: sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, sun shirt, etc.
  • Day pack
  • Hiking Boots
  • Camp Shoes (optional) 

CAMPING ITEMS:

  • Personal mess kit including: plate/bowl, utensils, cup
  • Camp chair
  • Tent (can be borrowed from the Mountaineers with advance notice)
  • Sleeping bag/pad (can be borrowed from the Mountaineers with advance notice)
  • Pillow (we’re car camping; might as well be comfy!)
  • Toiletries (restrooms available at campsite)
  • Headlamp/flashlight with extra batteries
  • Face mask(s)
  • Hand Sanitizer

FOOD FOR YOURSELF/FAMILY (OR GROUP MEALS): 

    • Breakfast: (x1)
    • Lunch: (x2)
    • Dinner: (x1)
    • Snacks: enough for both Saturday and Sunday
  • Water: 2 liters per person per day minimum
