Int. Snowshoeing Field Trip #1 - Snow Travel & Ice-Axe Skills - Skyline Lake

8 am (ready to go), the northern parking lot of the Stevens Pass Ski Area (more details to be provided in the email before the trip)

The field trip is your opportunity to practice the techniques presented in the lectures and reading material under the guidance of experienced instructors. Your mastery of the skills required for safe, enjoyable winter backcountry travel will be reviewed and discussed with you.

Adequate preparation is necessary in order to get the most benefit out of the field trip:

• Review lecture material, reading material, and handouts.
• Practice the techniques beforehand.
• Bring adequate clothing and equipment for a full, long day in the snow.
• Arrive early enough to park and make whatever preparations are necessary so you can be ready to begin at the starting time.
• Don't bring family, friends, or pets.

Carpooling for the field trip is encouraged when possible due to parking limitations. Read and understand how carpooling at the Mountaineers works. Please specify your carpool preferences for the field trip when signing up (or edit them later). Then click the link in your Profile to view other students' carpool preferences so that you can organize your own carpooling arrangements.

Note:  It is Mountaineers policy that alcohol and controlled substances may not be used before or during club tours and field trips.
