Start learning to cross country (classic XC) ski! This class is designed for new skiers or skiers who want to learn the basic skills of cross country (XC) ski technique. Whether your goal is ski logging roads, groomed ski trails, or the untracked backcountry, this is the class for the novice XC skier to start with. Completion of the class prepares you to ski confidently and efficiently on beginner to intermediate groomed XC trails. The class consists of three cross country ski lessons taught by PSIA instructors on groomed trails and will cover the basics: classic striding, going up hill, and handling easier downhills.
Classes are taught on groomed trails at sno-parks in the Snoqualmie Pass/I-90 corridor. A sno-park permit with groomed endorsement is required for each parked vehicle. For more information, go to: http://www.parks.wa.gov/winter. Participants supply their own ski gear. Options including gear purchase at retail shops or ski swaps, or rental at various rental locations.

An equipment list will be sent out prior to the first class. Skis, boots, poles and outdoor, winter clothing is required. Narrower, lighter skis will make it easier to learn on groomed tracks, but others can be used.
