Introduction to kayak handling skills and strokes in moving water along a near-shore coastal environment - one of the most fun places to play and explore by kayak!  Learn how to read the moving water, develop judgment skills, and practice controlled kayak maneuvering.  Learn to identify safe zones, play zones, transition zones, and hazard zones.  We’ll be looking to utilize training opportunities in rock gardens, waves, surge channels, pour-overs…! 

Wet exit practice, self and assisted rescue practice, ability to paddle forward and backward in a straight line, and…willingness to get wet! Please bring a helmet.
