Course Overview: The Coastal Kayak Strokes and Maneuvers Refinement course is designed to assist coastal kayakers at all levels in refining basic strokes and maneuvers. It may be beneficial to re-take this course at different levels of skill progression. It is at this level that all of the stroke and rescue techniques can be refined for maximum efficiency

Strokes and Maneuvers Refinement is one-day seminar to assist kayakers all at levels in refining their strokes and maneuvers in a sea kayak with bulkheads or approved flotation. Kayakers may chose to retake this seminar at different levels of skill progression. Using on-water practice, classroom discussion and video analysis, participants will practice the following strokes/maneuvers to increase efficiency, fluidity and control: * Forward stoke * Sweep stroke * Reverse strokes * Beam draw (in water recovery) * Sculling draw * Scull for support * Low brace * High brace * Static brace turns * Bow rudder * Side slip (hanging draw) * Stern rudder. This seminar is taught in flat water is an excellent skill-builder for the ACA Open Water Skills, Surf Zone and Tidal Currents seminars. Instruction provided by an ACA Coastal Kayaking instructor.
