Evening workshop for the GPS Navigation Course

This one night workshop at the Seattle Program Center covers the use of GPS, with either a smartphone app or a dedicated receiver. The workshop runs from 6:30 to around 9:00 and includes both an indoor presentation and outdoor exercises. See the course description for more details.

Required Equipment

A GPS enabled device:

1. Smartphone with a GPS application.  For IOS smartphones examples are Gaia Standard or Gaia Classic.  For Android smartphones examples are Gaia GPS or Backcountry Navigator Topo GPS

or

2. GPS stand-alone device.  Examples are Garmin devices (GPS Map 64, eTrex, Oregon), Delorme (now Garmin)  Inreach.

Digital map of the program center area pre-loaded into your device prior to class.

Headlamp for the outdoor excercises.

Appropriate clothing for the weather. The workshops have an outdoor section.

Optional: Laptop computer capable of connecting to the internet (via the Mountaineers WiFi) for the trip planning section
