Arrival Time:
If you had difficulty setting up your GPS during the GPS Module, please arrive by 5:45 PM so we can assist you with your remaining setup. Otherwise, please arrive from 6:00 to 6:15pm  to check in. Class will begin promptly at 6:30pm.    The Workshop normally ends around 9:15pm (9:30pm the latest).

* Bring a headlamp. It helps for the outdoor portion of the exercise, and also helps for reading fine details on your map.

* You are welcome to bring food to eat during the Workshop, but keep it simple.

* Bring a sharp pencil (mechanical pencils work great).

* Bring paper for taking notes.

 MAPS:

You'll need one additional map for this workshop, and it will also be used in our field trip.  It is the USGS Index map described on the main Course Page. (link to the right).  You must purchase this map in advance, and the best source is the Online Bookstore at Mountaineers.com.  Just search for "Index"

Rescheduling or cancellation:

Registration closes 4 days before the Workshop.  If you must cancel or reschedule then please do so as soon as you can to open room for people on the waitlist.  After registration closes you can make changes by contacting the course leader or by contacting Member Services.

Instructors:
Come prepared to instruct students who likely have a wide range of experience:

  1.  Review your "Instructor Workshop Packet."  If you haven't obtained one via email about a week before the activity, please email the activity leader.  We will also have paper copies at the workshop.
  2.  Review the "Student Field Trip" and "Instructor Field Trip" packets as well, to help you answer questions about the upcoming field trip. The student version  is available in "Course Materials" on the course page.
  3. Review the GPS Online Module and prepare your own smartphone with Gaia GPS and the tracks and waypoints for Magnuson Park.
  4. Bring your compass and GPS.  You don't necessarily need to bring your own maps, but it can help.
