This is an Exploring Nature Naturalist trip, at a slow observational pace, with a steep chossy scramble up a ravine to the top of Yakima Peak.  I recommend either field guides or phone Nature Apps to ID plants, birds and butterflies.  Apps could include the Burke Museum "Washington Wildflower" plant guide, and Merlin Bird ID.  The book "Butterflies of the PNW" is the only Butterfly Guide you'll ever need for Washington.

I recommend hiking poles and require a helmet and scramble boots for our short jaunt up to Yakima peak.  We will carry a scramble rope for a fixed line for a short exposed section near the top, for those who feel the need.
