Field trip: Introduction to the Natural World Course
Field Trip 2 - Seattle Naturalists Intro Natural World Course - Juanita Bay Park
We will be looking and listening for both migratory and resident birds in breeding plumage as they seek potential mates and set up territories for nesting. Bring binoculars; field guides are optional.

We will meet at 8 am near the restrooms (just past the parking area) at Juanita Bay Park. The closest intersection is 98th Ave NE and Forbes Creek Drive in Kirkland.
Note that there is a park nearby called Juanita *Beach* Park - you won't find us there!
Expect to spend 2 hours wandering the trails, looking for birds and listening to their calls. This field trip will give you the chance to practice using binoculars and identifying local birds. We'll have a good chance to see Red-breasted Sapsucker, nesting Red-winged Blackbirds, and waterfowl. Over by 10 am.
***If you decide not to attend this field trip, you must cancel and/or notify me. I have no way of knowing that you took another trip instead.***
Required Equipment
Binoculars - If you do not have binoculars, email the class roster to see if someone can bring an extra pair. You can also rent binoculars inexpensively at the Seattle Audubon Nature Shop in Northeast Seattle.
Optional - field guide, water, snack
Dress for the weather. We will walk on boardwalks, level trails, and grass. A hat is recommended.
