New Hike Leader Seminar - University of Washington: Seattle Campus

This 2.5 hour evening seminar provides experienced hikers information to help them become an effective hike leader for the Mountaineers. This is a special session of the seminar provided for members of the UW Hiking Club. Please do not register for this seminar if you are not a UW student.

UW Campus - Savery Hall, Room 168, 6:30 - 9:00 pm

Seminar covers Mountaineers hiking classifications, posting hikes on the website, screening hike participants, responsibilities of hike leaders before, during, and after the hike; ensuring a safe and and enjoyable hike. There will be a lecture, small group work, and discussion of real-life scenarios encountered by hike leaders. Seminar will be adapted for UW Hiking Club. 

A collection of reference materials for use by new hike leaders is available on the Seattle Hiking Committee section of the Club website here.  Participants are encouraged to review these documents before the seminar.
