New Hike Leader Seminar - Mountaineers Seattle Program Center
This 2.5 hour evening seminar provides experienced hikers information to become an official hike leader for the Mountaineers. Following the seminar prospective leaders are required to lead a mentored hike and receive Committee approval. Please note that participation in a minimum of 3 club Day Hikes is a prerequisite for this seminar. Prospective leaders from any branch can get credit for this seminar toward their leader certification.

Seminar is at the Seattle Program Center, Cascade A/B, from 6:30 - 9:00 pm
Seminar covers Mountaineers hiking classifications, posting hikes on the website, screening hike participants, responsibilities of hike leaders before, during, and after the hike; ensuring a safe and and enjoyable hike. There will be a lecture, small group work, and discussion of real-life scenarios encountered by hike leaders.
A collection of reference materials for use by new hike leaders is available on the Seattle Hiking Committee section of the Club website here. Participants are encouraged to review these documents before the seminar.
