The seminar is a pre-requisite to becoming an official day hike or backpack trip leader for the Seattle and Foothills branches of the Mountaineers (secondary steps are a mentor hike or backpack and committee approval). Active hikers/backpackers and other club members interested in becoming a new hike leader are invited to participate. Presented in an informal Q&A format, learn about hiking trip standards, recommended reading resources, outdoor leadership insights w/group breakouts, and the mentor leader program. We also review how to create a hike activity and complete activity reports on the club website. The workshop is free and open to all Mountaineers members who are interested in becoming trip leaders, but please signup online so we can anticipate group size and send pre-seminar reading materials.
Required Equipment
Participants are strongly encouraged to read and review the reading materials prior to the seminar in order to fully participate in group discussions.
