=========================

Of the premier routes in the area that match the CHS1 distance and elevation criteria for July, the trailhead for Aneroid Lake in the fabled Eagle Cap Wilderness is the closest to our home base at Puffer Butte Lodge.  Aneroid Lake is reported to be quite beautiful, and the trail is said to be easy to follow with great views along the way.  Let's check it out.

Note that the elevations for this trip are higher than for most CHS1 hikes so far this season.  The route starts at about 4500' and climbs to about 7500'.

To lighten our load during the ascent we'll bring a small number of water filters to share, and refill our water supplies at the lake.

Afterwards we'll grab a small bite in the nearby town of Enterprise, OR before heading back to Puffer Butte for the group dinner.
