CHS 2 Hike - Teanaway Butte

Field trip: Conditioning Hiking Series

CHS 2 Hike - Teanaway Butte

Change of location to Teanaway Butte due to snow levels on the Johnson-Medra trail. Enjoy the spring wildflowers and views of the Stuart Range on a this lightly used trail in the Teanaway. We'll hike up to to an old fire lookout site on Teanaway Butte. CHS hike led at a CHS 2 pace (2.0-3.0 mph)

  • *Varies*
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 9.7 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,306 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-3.0 mph

We'll meet at 7:00 at the Tibbett's Valley Park and Ride in Issaquah then head over the pass to the Teanaway.  Drivers will need a Discover Pass. The last mile of the road is unpaved but is usually in good condition. Detailed directions to follow in the hello hiker email.

The  mountaineers route describes a different trail than we'll be taking. The WTA site is better but a little short on the mileage based on recent trip reports:  https://www.wta.org/go-hiking/hikes/teanaway-butte#trip-report-listing-header

Bring your ten essentials. Plan for sun (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen) or rain and bring plenty of water.  We'll stop for lunch/snack at the top.
