CHS 2 Hike - Grand Ridge (Olympics)

Field trip: Conditioning Hiking Series

CHS 2 Hike - Grand Ridge (Olympics)

Friday overnight required at either Heart O' the Hills Campground with us or finding your own accommodations nearby in Port Angeles. This is a repeat of the past two years' stunning lollipop loop graduation hike to Grand View Peak via the Grand Ridge and Grand Valley trails. F Lakes, streams and fabulous views of Obstruction Peak, Elk Mountain, Maiden Peak, Green Mountain and Mount Olympus. CHS hike led at a CHS 2 pace (2.0-3.0 mph).

  • Very Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 16.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,800 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-3.0 mph

We will meet at 6:00AM at the parking area just inside Heart o' The Hills campground (which is just past the entrance gate to Olympic National Park). Specific details and instructions will be in our 'hello hiker" email.

Because ferry service does not start early enough to get us there by 6:00AM you will all need to overnight Friday somewhere in or near Port Angeles.  Sheila and I will secure some car camping spots at Heart o' the Hills campground which is located just beyond the entrance kiosk to Olympic Nat'l Park and Hurricane Ridge (btw there is only one road out of Port Angeles to Hurricane Ridge). You are all  welcome and encouraged to camp with us there. Or if you prefer, there are plenty of accommodations in/or near Port Angeles to satisfy every need.  we plan to make a weekend of it and overnight again Saturday night at Heart o' the Hills. You're welcome to join us Sat night as well but we should be back in time for late ferries Saturday night if you want to head back home then.
