Target start time from the Colonel Bob trailhead is 8:00 a.m. sharp. Ferry is not an option that early on a Sunday morning, so plan to drive around or overnight nearby.

There are numerous campgrounds around Lake Quinault:

In fair weather or foul, this is an excellent hike through old growth forest to a high peak with a summit register. But fair weather adds a 360-degree view to the Olympic mountain range, Lake Quinault and the Pacific Ocean that you will carry in your mind and heart forever! The stats are deceiving -- the summit approach is over steep, rocky trail. Over-the-ankle boots and poles recommended.

(NOTE: This hike is posted as a CHS 2 hike, but it is open to strong CHS 1 hikers as well.)
