CHS 1 Hike - North Fork Skokomish River

Field trip: Conditioning Hiking Series

CHS 1 Hike - North Fork Skokomish River

CHS1 Graduation hike led at a pace of 1.5-2.0 mph.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 16.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,200 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2.0 mph

We'll do a  6 a.m. departure from the Tukwila Park and Ride,

This will be a very long day.

This hike will be led at a CHS 1 pace so if you are not comfortable hiking at a slower pace, this may not be the hike for you.  Let's stick together for everyone's safety and enjoyment. Please do not run ahead of the group.

We will hike together with plenty of short breaks to catch our breath. We'll stop at the lakes for lunch and will probably take a couple ten minute breaks on the trail as well.

Note on mileage and elevation: the posted values match those cited by both WTA and park service for this route. I did get less miles and more elevation when drawing the route in programs like Gaia GPS and CalTopo, but this should be in the ballpark.

I will likely want to stop on the way back to Seattle for a meal (open to suggestions!).

Pre-hike email will be sent the Friday before the hike.
