CHS 1 Hike - Kendall Katwalk

This hike along the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) north of Snoqualmie Pass takes you to a narrow trail blasted into the cliff face with views of wildflowers, mountains, ridges, and fall foliage. CHS hike led at a CHS 1 pace (1.5-2.0 mph)

  • Strenuous
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 13.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,700 ft

Let's meet at Tibbetts Valley Park Park & Ride at 7 am. It is on Newport Way just off of 17th Ave NW.

Tibbetts is the surface lot with the skate park, not the parking garage across the street.

For those driving directly and meeting us at the trailhead, plan to be there around 7:45 a.m.

Our hike will start from a Pacific Crest trailhead on the opposite side of the freeway from the Snoqualmie Pass ski area.

We follow a beautiful section of the PCT with a well-maintained trail at a moderate grade.  The Katwalk area has a narrow trail with a steep drop to one side, so please be extra mindful in this section.

Note that this leader usually hikes toward the high end of a CHS1 pace but will stay alert to the needs of the group and go at a pace everyone can keep up with.  We will take regular breaks, with a longer break at the lake.

Let's plan to stop for a meal  on the way back. Suggestion: Snoqualmie Falls Brewery (https://goo.gl/maps/JFPnzqmhWKr9xuSc9).
