  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 7.6 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,370 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2.0 mph

We'll leave the Tibbetts Valley Park parking lot at 7:00. This parking lot is located across Newport Way NW south of the Issaquah Transit Station, link to Google maps here.

Drive to the trailhead is about 2.0 hrs. Roads to both trailheads are passable for passenger vehicle, though rough.

Driving distance between trailheads is about 6.0 miles. We'll need a little extra time to position cars.

This through hike will start at the Beverly Creek Trailhead (see driving directions for Bean Creek Basin) and end at the Iron Peak TH in Esmerelda Basin (see Iron Peak TH for directions).

From the Beverly Creek TH we'll hike north and northwest to the saddle between Teanaway Peak and Iron Peak, about 4 miles. From the saddle, we'll take a 1.2 mile "in and out" to the Iron Peak summit elevation 6480'; gain from saddle to peak is about 350'. Once back at the saddle, we'll meander west down the Iron Peak Trail to the trailhead in Esmerelda Basin.

Bring plenty of water (~ 2.0 liters) as this can be a hot hike with no water once we leave Beverly Creek.
