CHS 1 Hike - Goat Lake (Monte Cristo)

A hike along Elliott Creek through old growth forest, past cascades and McIntosh falls to reach a large alpine lake with views of Cadet Peak. CHS hike led at a CHS 1 pace (1.5-2.0 mph). Currently, the road appears closed to the trailhead. As of 5/23 @ 10:30 am, the district ranger office says they hope to have the road open before Memorial Day weekend.

Leave the Ash Way P&R (I-5 Exit 183) at 7am for a 1 hour 40 minute drive to the trailhead a short distance past Barlow Pass on the Mountain Loop highway. Seattle carpooling from the NE 65th Street (Greenlake) P&R leaving at 6:30am

Expect to be hiking on the trail around 9am, lunch at the lake near noon, return to the trailhead about 3:30pm. Stopping in Granite Falls for a group snack or meal before returning to the various Park and Rides.
