CHS 1 Hike - Fragrance Lake Loop

Field trip: Conditioning Hiking Series

CHS 1 Hike - Fragrance Lake Loop

A pleasant, early-season conditioning hike in Larrabee State Park which journeys through old-growth forest to a secluded lake. We'll loop around the lake and also visit a viewpoint which looks out onto Samish Bay and the San Juan Islands. CHS 1 hike led at a pace of 1.5-2.0 mph.

  • Pace: 1.5-2.0 mph

We'll meet up at a local P&R (time/locale to be announced depending on where hikers are coming from) where we will gather everyone together and then caravan in individual vehicles to the trailhead parking lot off of Chuckanut Drive, arriving by 8:15 a.m.  For everyone's safety, carpooling is limited to household members.

Discover Pass is required to park in this lot.  Day passes can also be purchased at the trailhead kiosk for $10.

A copy of the map for download and printing can be found here -- Blanchard Forest and Chuckanut Mountain Trail Systems.

All participants must have with them at all times, hand sanitizer and a face covering (bandana, neck gaiter, mask) which can cover mouth and nose when we pass close to others.  Be prepared to step off the trail or turn outwards when passing other hikers and to maintain social distancing.

Optional post-hike stop in Edison/Bow (weather permitting) for takeout from the popular Tweets Cafe (Sat hours 11-3) or Mariposa Taqueria (Sat hours 12-3).  There is a large grassy area between the two eateries  (bring something to sit on) where we can enjoy our food outdoors at a safe distance from each other.
