[ This trip was originally posted for Tomlike Mountain but that route is still under snow so the destination has been changed to Coyote Wall. ]

The views from Coyote Wall make it one of the classic Columbia Gorge hiking destinations.   The Labyrinth Loop variation matches CHS1 distance and elevation targets for May, and promises expansive views of the Columbia River Gorge along with stands of oak, cascading waterfalls, dramatic basalt outcroppings.  Route descriptions and pictures at Oregon Hikers and WTA.  We'll do the route counterclockwise so that the view of the Gorge is in front of us as we descend along the top of Coyote Wall (as seen in the picture).

Because this route is beautiful and accessible it is also popular, therefore we will get an early start to avoid the crowds.  Though we will be immersed in beautiful landscape, this is not a wilderness trip.  Expect to see many other parties on the trail.  Portions of the route are also open to on-leash dogs and mountain bikes.
