CHS 1 Hike - Blake Island

Blake island is one of the most scenic state parks in the Seattle region. Nestled between Vashon and Bainbridge islands, this lesser known jewel is four miles from Alki Point. It has eight miles of hiking trails, and a four-mile loop trail around the island's waterfront offers spectacular views of the Seattle skyline, Mount Rainier, and the Olympic mountain ranges. Black-tailed deer and bald eagles are commonly seen. Three beach campgrounds offer overnight accommodation.

We will split into two groups of 14 each, and hike a complete loop around the island in opposite directions. After the hike, we'll stop for lunch at the beach / campground on the north-east corner of the island, which also has picture-postcard views of the Seattle Skyline across the water.

This hike is especially scenic. It is a perfect opportunity to lug your favorite camera, whether it is a huge SLR with multiple lenses, or simply an iPhone. We will have plenty of time for pictures.
