Because of limited parking and not carpooling, I'd like to congregate at the Verlot Ranger station at 7am and caravan to the trailhead to arrive as a group. If the lot can't accomodate our car count, we may backtrack and hike the Monte Cristo route instead. Be advised that cell service drops just a few miles east of Granite Falls.

We scouted the trail on 5/28. There were probably a dozen trees across the trail to go over, under and around. A few shallow stream crossings to navigate. The recent rains have sustained the random muddy spot, so you might like gaiters. Poles are always good to have along when it gets steep.
The Mountain Loop gravel section of about four miles is moderatly potholed, the last half mile to the trailhead has a few that are larger and deeper but navigated my many passenger cars.
Restroom at trailhead, but a good idea to bring your own TP.
