CHS Alumni Hike - Burroughs Mountain

A strenuous 9 mile hike with 2,900 feet of elevation gain to Third Burroughs. Hike on fragile terrain between the Winthrop and Emmons Glaciers to viewpoints with spectacular views of Columbia Crest on Mount Rainier.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 9.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,900 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2.0 mph

9 am at the Sunrise Visitor Center in Mt. Rainier NP.

Along with the 10 essentials, there are added precautions the Mountaineers requires during the time of Covid19.  These include:
  • Face coverings to be worn.
  • Maintain social distance while hiking and during stops of at least 6 feet.
  • Bring hand sanitizer/wipes for clean hands.
  • You must live within 125 miles of the trailhead to participate.
  • No sharing food---I guess this means I can't bring my famous chocolate treats...boohoo...
  • Carpooling not allowed--social-bubble exceptions.
  • No social event/meal after the hike...This is the biggest bummer as sharing an after hike meal is the best
