Seattle Program Center, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm,  Cascade room A/B.  Light snacks, coffee/tea and water will be provided.

During class we review topographic maps, parts of the compass, and set the declination adjustment on your compass for western WA. Next we travel into Magneson Park and practice navigating with a compass on the way to and around the Kite Hill area and back to the program center.    Our walk in the park will be 1 - 2 miles distance.  Bring a compass, pack w/rain gear, water and lunch as we will take a short food break during the navigation practice in the park.  Maps will be provided.

** It is recommended to read the Navigation chapter from the book "Freedom of the Hills" prior to this class.  An electronic version of the chapter is provided to course students in the course materials. 

Equipment:  A compass with 2 degree measures and declination adjustment, pack w/rain gear, water and lunch, footwear appropriate to walk on park areas/trails and grass.
