Climbing Safety

Climbing Safety

Ways we improve climbing safety. We offer courses to hep prevent incidents and to respond to incidents, and we post descriptions of past incidents and the subsequent responses. We train our leaders to make safety their primary concern.

Safety is very important to the Seattle Climbing.

We offer courses so our climbers are prepared to deal with hazards:

  • Avalanche Awareness,
  • First Aid,
  • Self-Rescue,
  • Leadership,
  • etc.

We require our Leaders to have extra training

  • Avalanche - AIARE Level 1,
  • Outdoor Leadership,
  • etc.

And our Climbing Safety committee are also members of the Mountaineer Safety Committee, reviewing incidents in hopes of preventing future incidents.   Many of these incidents are described in the Mountaineers Safety Blog.
