Climbing Education Advisory Council

Right now, the Mountaineers are not attractive to young climbers as their climbing curriculum is mostly targeted towards hikers and scramblers, does not include very many advanced climbing courses, and their courses usually require a large time commitment. At the same time, young climbers who often climb at a very high level have few places to go where their skills are respected and where they can learn to climb big mountains or go on expeditions.

The purpose of the council is to help the Mountaineers create a climbing curriculum that will enable young climbers to acquire the skills for outdoor climbing, from bouldering to sport climbing to alpine climbing to expeditions.

Currently, we are developing this program.
