Workshop #1 will take place in the evening at the Program Center and is a required core instructional component of the course.

Students: 6:00–9:00pm in the Basement and/or Goodman C,  Mountaineers Program Center.

WORKSHOP #1

Where: Meet in the Basement of the Mountaineers Program Center. We'll use the Basement and/or Goodman C. 

What: This 3-hour workshop will cover the following skills: 

Review (1 hour):

  • Review basic knots, which students should have self-taught as homework
  • Top-rope belay review

Station rotation (2 hours):

    • Lead belaying
    • Basic anchors 
    • Belaying with a munter and tying-off with a mule knot
