Small Party Rescue Seminar

Learn how to perform a group rescue of a fallen or injured climber using minimal resources. This seminar is geared towards 2 rope teams of 2 in a single pitch lower or raise scenario to bring the injured person to a safe spot. The skills involved can be used in multipitch rescues, however, those scenarios will not be covered

Please note: this seminar does not award any badges as it is a subset of the skills taught in Rescue Methods

This seminar teaches the fundamentals of rescuing a fallen climber using minimal equipment in a group setting. Working with 2 rope teams of 2, the 3 rescuers will  lower or raise the injured person to a safe spot. The skills involved can be used in multipitch rescues, however, those scenarios will not be covered.

Note: we will be observing all COVID guidance's. All instructors and participants will be required to wear facemasks and gloves. Hand sanitizer will be required and used after every iteration or prior to using shared equipment. There will not be any "live" subjects being rescued - all rescues will use backpacks as weight.

If you sign up for a "Saturday" Skills 1, you are required to attend "Saturday" Scenarios. Same with Sunday. No make ups will be offered.

At the start of this course you will be put into a "pod", which will be your group for both days of the seminar. If you have a preferred group (or someone you don't want to be grouped with) please make sure you inform the leader when you request permission to add.

If you are interested in instructing, please request permission to attend the Group Rescue Refresher. Preference will be given to those who have taught Rescue Methods previously, or have experience in multi rope rescue in a SAR type setting. https://www.mountaineers.org/locations-lodges/seattle-branch/committees/seattle-climbing-committee/seminars-clinics/group-rescue-instructor-review-cougar-mountain-crag
