One day field trip to practice snow travel and ice axe arrest

8 am Alpental parking lot

We will cover use of crampons, roped team travel in snow, use of ice axe, self belay and self arrest, walking in balance, terrain evaluation and group communication.  

This field trip is mandatory for all Glacier students that do not have the scramble badge already. If you have the scramble badge, the field trip is optional and you may attend to refresh your snow and ice axe skills.

Required Equipment

Required Equipment

Helmet, ice axe, boots, gaiters, crampons, several pairs of gloves, rain gear (top and bottom), harness, your assortment of biners and prusiks and webbing, food and water for the day, extra layers of clothing for warmth (we will not be traveling very far), change of clothes in the car, and the ten essentials.  

If you own any pickets bring them, buy do not go out and buy one.
