Required gear
> Belay device!!
> Helmet
> Harness (with all your gear nicely organized)
> PA (personal anchor)
> 4 locking carabiners (1 of them is for the end of your PA)
> Small hero loop (not your waist texas prusik - your hero loop cord should be roughly 1 foot in diameter | if you don't have one then buy 4 feet of 5mm cord to make one)
> Runners/webbing (bring what you already own)
> headlamp
> Appropriate clothing (the garage doors might be open so bring an extra layer just in case)
> Comfortable shoes (no need for boots)

Optional gear
> Leather belay gloves (you don't need them at all for this Part 1 evening, but they might be nice for the Part 2 evening - $5 leather garden gloves work well too)
> A few non-locking carabiners
> Backpack (to carry your stuff around, please don't leave gear on the floor)

Leave at home
> Ice axe
> Texas prusiks (both waist prusik and foot prusik, please don't bring them!)

Agenda
For the first 45+ minutes there will be a few demos and lots of info about rappelling, please don't be late. It's okay if you're still in your work clothes and you don't have your harness on, please just be in the basement at 6:29pm for the demos, thanks.
Then there will be 30 minutes for you to practice the rappelling setup while standing on the floor, with the instructors helping.
Then for the remainder of the workshop there will be different low-angle rappelling areas in the basement to practice everything you've learned and to prepare you for the Part 2 evening.

When & Where
6:29pm-9pm in the basement of the Seattle Program Center. Please be on time! We'll be in the basement for the entire evening.
