Dane Burns, longtime climber of hard routes, beloved gear guru (see his blog Cold Thistle), and well-known Grand Poobah of ice, will be presenting on the nature of water ice. Dane says: "The Inuits have somewhere over 100 names for snow. As an ice climber you should know the half that relates to water ice. Knowing the subtle differences in ice and how to identify them will make your own climbing easier and more importantly, safer."
