Field trip: Compressed Alpine Scrambling Course

Pod P: This is the Snow Field Trip for the 2021 Seattle Compressed Alpine Scramble Course.

Meeting Place: Alpental Ski area parking lot.  Take eastbound I-90 exit 52 (West Summit), turn L/N at the stop sign at the end of the ramp, get in the right northbound lane and cross under the freeway.  Continue north to the furthest open parking lot and park as near the NE corner of that lot as you can. 
Meeting Time: Arrive by 7:45. Start time 8:00am. We will head toward Source Lake to practice snow travel, ice axe, and crampon skills. 
Gear: All usual scrambling gear including mountain boots, ice ax, helmet, and crampons (which you may borrow, rent, or buy as long as they fit your boots : look into getting from the Scramble Committee (email scrambling.seattle) or the Mountaineers' gear loaner program (contact Mounty staff): if you need this loaner option, please be pro-active and reach out well ahead of time).  Gaiters, foot-warmers, etc., may help if you are having issues with cold feet.  Please be sure to bring sunglasses and sun protection.
Further Details: Any additional necessary info will be provided to the students in an email from the instructors during the week before the activity.
