More details will come in an email prior to the field trip.

For now, we will plan to leave at 8:00 a.m. from the Mountaineers Lodge at Stevens Pass heading to our practice area at Sam Hill near Leavenworth WA.

Once we arrive at our parking area for the Sam Hill/Leavenworth practice site, we will split into smaller groups of about six students and a pair of instructors for small group instruction for the rest of the day, traveling separately from the other groups to minimize our impact on the site and other users.

During this all-day field trip you will learn and practice these skills:

  • Climbing and down-climbing fairly steep rocks faces and slabs.
  • Traveling in boulder fields, talus and scree.
  • Protected downclimb techniques
