  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,450 ft

Meeting Time:
We will (hopefully) start moving at 8:00 am, so please arrive about 15 minutes earlier to give you time to boot up and go through a short introduction, gear check, and route discussion.
Meeting Place:
Just east of Issaquah take I-90, Eastbound Exit 20, then turn right/south and then take an immediate left/east onto SE 79th Street (parallel to I-90).  You will see  a gated road.  The gate is the Meeting Place, but you may need to turn back around west on SE 79th and park somewhere west of the junction with the I-90 access road.

This is a conditioning hike for Seattle Alpine Scrambling Course students. We will use this time to get to know fellow scramblers, test new gear, discuss the course, and get ready for a summer peak-bagging!  We will also practice a few skills.  Covid precautions will be in effect -- social distancing and masks on in the parking lot!  Further Covid procedures will be discussed during the info (generally, as long as you keep your distance, it is okay to have the mask off while hiking, but be prepared to mask up and step off the trail at breaks and when meeting other people).

Required Equipment

While this is not a "real" scramble, for purposes of checking your gear and judging your conditioning, please bring along and be prepared to pack and carry all the gear you will be taking on a scramble trip. This includes mountaineering boots (but see below), helmet, ice axe, and hasty harness.

Everything else you would bring on a regular scramble course is required including the 10 essentials, rain gear and extra clothes.

This is a great time to test out mountaineering boots you are planning to use during the scramble course for fit and comfort. If you do not have those boots yet sturdy hiking boots will suffice for now.
