This is a conditioning hike for Seattle Alpine Scrambling Course students. We will use this time to get to know fellow scramblers, test new gear, discuss the course, and get ready for peakbagging! In particular we will begin with the rest step, and do some introductory navigation. I will send out a map for you to print and bring, along with your compass.
Required Equipment
This is not a scramble; however, for conditioning you should wear/carry most of the gear you will be taking on a scramble trip. Don't bring an ice axe. Everything else you would bring on a regular scramble course is required including the 10 essentials, rain gear, and extra (summer season) clothes.
This is a great time to test out mountaineering boots you are planning to use during the scramble course for fit and comfort. If you do not have those boots yet, wear sturdy hiking boots. No running shoes! We will do a little off-trail travel so boots are needed.
