Experience Field Trip - Bean Creek Basin

Seattle Alpine Scramble Experience Field Trip RE-ROUTED FROM BILLS TO MARY & JUDI TRAVERSE Bills Peak is an unofficially named summit in the Teanaway, with 3,200 feet of elevation gain in 8 miles, much of it on trail. The peak itself is sparsely treed, with rocky open slopes or snow in early season. NOTE: will re-route to Mary-to-Bean Traverse if snow conditions are too low.

  • Moderate
  • Easy
  • Mileage: 5.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,000 ft

TBD - expect to receive an e-mail directly from the Seattle Alpine Scramble Committee the week of May 20th

This all day field trip takes place in the Bean Creek Basin area of the Cascades north of the town of Cle Elum on I-90.

Here you will learn and practice the skills taught at the earlier field trips as part of a real live scramble trip up to the summit of one of the many peaks in the Teanaway area. There is always plenty of snow and rock to practice your steep snow, self-arrest, glissading, rock scrambling, and navigation skills.
