New Hike-Backpack Leader Seminar - Online Classroom - Online Classroom
ZOOM SEMINAR WITH INTERACTIVE GROUP DISCUSSION! This 2.5 hour evening seminar provides experienced hikers or backpackers information to help them become an effective hike or backpack leader for the Mountaineers. Current hike and backpack leaders who would like a "Refresher" are also welcome to participate. This seminar is one of the pre-requisites to becoming an official hike or backpack leader for the club, and prospective leaders from any branch can get credit for this seminar toward their leader certification. IF YOU'VE ALREADY ATTENDED THE SEMINAR TO BECOME A HIKE LEADER YOU DON'T NEED TO TAKE IT AGAIN TO GO ON TO BECOME A BACKPACK LEADER UNLESS 3+ YEARS HAVE PASSED.

This session will be an online zoom meeting, and will start at 6:15 and end at 9PM. To follow along with the slides in real time and take part in breakout discussions you will need to take the meeting from a laptop or desktop computer or install the zoom app on your phone. If you don't have access to a laptop, desktop or smart phone it might be best for you to cancel and plan to attend at a later date.
The zoom login details will be emailed to you in advance of the session. You must register for the session to receive the zoom info.
This 2.5 hour evening course provides experienced hikers or backpackers information they need to become an effective hike or backpack leader for the Mountaineers. NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN INFORMATIONAL SEMINAR ABOUT MOUNTAINEERS HIKING AND BACKPACKING PROGRAMS! This course is a pre-requisite (along with completion of "Becoming A Mountaineers Leader Elearning" class, a mentored hike/backpack and committee approval) to becoming an official hike or backpack leader for the club. Past and current hike or backpack leaders as well as those interested in becoming a new leader are invited to participate. The workshop is free and open to all Mountaineers members, but please register online so we can schedule the right number of instructors. Participants are strongly encouraged to complete the "Becoming A Mountaineers Leader Elearning" class prior attending this seminar.
