Backpacking Skills Mini Clinic - Squaxin Park

Kids and their adults who want to go backpacking this summer can learn the tricks of the backcountry at this 3 hour outdoor workshop. This is also appropriate for adults interested in leading family backpacks. Participants will travel from station to station learning various aspects of backpacking and backcountry camping in this Covid safe activity.

  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

Meet at the eastern Forest in Priest Point Park.  After the Rose Garden, drive east along the loop drive and find a parking place in one of the several turn offs.

2-5pm on Sunday, June 6

Come dressed for the outdoors, and whatever the weather will be.  We will be setting up tents, pumping water, sampling foods, fitting and packing backpacks, and "flushing" backcountry toilets, so come prepared.

We will have a snack at the food booth as we learn about backcountry foods and meal planning and gear.
