Family Hiking Conditioning Course - Olympia - 2020

Day Hiking Course

Family Hiking Conditioning Course

Family Hiking Conditioning Series is a program to teach youth (8 and up) with their parent(s)/guardian(s) to learn skills of hiking and conditioning with an end goal of being able to hike up 3,000 feet of elevation gain.

Family Hiking Conditioning Series is designed for families with youth ages 8 and up to learn essential skills of hiking and learn conditioning skills.  The end result is that each adult and youth participant will be able to complete a 3,000 foot hike by the end of summer 2020.  We will begin with a lecture and gear check in March and then starting in April, each participant will complete two hikes per month of increasing difficulty.  One hike will be with the Mountaineers, the other hike can be done privately.  In addition, we will have optional Urban Adventures during the week to continue working on our conditioning.  By September 2020, each participant should be able to complete a 3,000 foot elevation gain hike.

Please note that this a family activity.  As such, youth and their parent(s)/guardian(s) will attend together.  There is not a drop off option for youth as this is not a youth program, but a family program.

Graduates of the Family Hiking Conditioning Series will receive the Conditioning Hiking Series badge.
