SRC 1 Field Trip 1 - Mount Rainier Lower Nisqually Glacier

The Olympia Branch Self Rescue Course (SRC 1) is a module of Olympia Intermediate Climbing Course and covers rescue of follower on rock, small party rescue, glacier rescue. Glacier Rescue Field Trip

This is a seminar-based course, with the goal of facilitating practice and learning of Self-Rescue skills by providing scenarios for the participants to work through. We do NOT mandate a prescriptive method for resolving the scenarios; we prefer that participants execute scenarios in a method that works for them, but we do feature a ‘best practices’ method in our curriculum for reference.

This field trip will focus on Crevasse Rescue to include:
3 Person rope travel (alternatives), Drop Assist, Z Pulley
2 Person rope travel, Drop Assist, Z Pulley
Prusik up, Climbing out with Ice Axe, Anchoring in place, 
Rope Team Rescue; Direct Haul, Direct Assist, Low-Angle Evacuation
This field trip will be a very long day and on glacier. Please be prepare for a long day.
