  • For Beginners (Getting Started Series)

We will meet at the Tacoma Mountaineers Program Center, 2302 N. 30th St., Tacoma, WA 98403 at 9 am. Plan to be here all day, until 5 pm.  Please arrive on time as we have a lot to cover.

Today we will be practicing everything you have learned, including lead climbing and belaying, setting up tope rope anchors, cleaning, rappeling, and taking lead falls. We will also cover route risk assessment and what to do in problem situations, like if the rope gets stuck.  Today will culminate with the first check climb (the final check climb will be on real rock) where you will sucessfully lead a route, take a lead fall, make and clean a top rope anchor, rappel, belay a leader, and catch a fall.
