We will meet at the Lacey Community Center, 6729 Pacific Ave SE, Lacey, WA 98503, from 6:30-9:30 PM.
The title of this lecture is: Mountain Hazards. We will meet jointly with the Olympia Alpine Scrambling students for an avalanche awareness lecture. In preparation, students should read/review in Freedom of the Hills, 9th Edition:
Ch. 3 pg 58-62; Ch. 16 Snow travel and climbing; ch. 17 Avalanche Safety; Ch. 26 Mountain Geology; Ch. 28 Mountain Weather.
Discussion topics to include:
- avalanche safety
- snow travel
- conservation project options
- crampon usage
