Improve your downhill ski skills without long lift lines in a very small and friendly group setting.

Our instructors can coach you from your first time on skis through the basics of downhill skiing up through skiing challenging slopes and snow conditions.  We do not have a  snowboard instructor in 2023.

This lesson is an add-on that requires you to also register for day-use or an overnight at Meany Lodge for the same day as your lesson.  Please see the Meany Lodge Calendar to register for day-use or an overnight.

Be ready to spend the day outside, with appropriate layers of clothing.

Ski Lessons notes

One ski lesson at Meany is typically 2 hours long delivered in two 1-hour sessions.  We will meet at 10 am and 2 pm at the tow hut. We will watch you ski to assign you to the appropriate class and instructor.

Meany specializes in helping people of all ages with their first time on skis!

COVID notes

Please see our Winter Weekend page for the full set of COVID mitigations being used this year.

Meeting time and place

We will meet at 8:15am in the overnight parking area of the Crystal Spring Sno-Park.  The Meany Lodge snowcat “Tom Cat” will do one pick-up from the parking lot and bring you and your ski gear up to Meany Lodge to the slopes.  It will return guests to parking lot around 5:30 pm.   Get your ski boots on and your skis handy after parking.

Required Equipment

Required Equipment

Downhill skis, ski boots, poles.   Please bring your own or rent equipment in town - the Snow Sports Director (maud.de.bel@gmail.com) can help answer your questions.  The Mountaineers does not provide you with equipment, and we do not have equipment to rent at the Lodge.

Helmets are strongly recommended.

Handwear: The rope tow wears out gloves and mitts quickly, so we recommend wearing leather work gloves over glove liners.  Welding gloves also work well.  Meany also has several styles of leather over-mitt protectors available for sale.   Most people stay plenty warm while skiing.  We recommend bringing a separate pair of warm mitts to wear while you are not skiing.
